A service-learning initiative is giving engineering students real-world experience as consultants to several area non-profit organizations. They include Maine Health, Southern Maine Health Care and Goodwill of Northern New England and the Portland Public Library, where students are working to find lower cost lighting meant to reduce electricity costs.
