August 27, 2019 — University of Southern Maine welcomes new students on Saturday, Aug. 31

The incoming class of University of Southern Maine undergraduate students will be moving into dormitories on the Gorham campus on Saturday morning. They include students from across Maine and 28 other states.

August 22, 2019 — USM Art Department and Galleries announce 2019-2020 exhibitions and events

The University of Southern Maine’s Art Department and Galleries will kick off their Fall 2019 season on Tuesday, September 3 with an exhibition of work by visiting artist Joseph Lupo.

August 22, 2019 — USM announcing $1 million gift at 2019 Opening Breakfast on Aug. 29

University of Southern Maine President Glenn Cummings will host the Fall 2019 Opening Breakfast on Thursday, August 29 at 8 a.m. The event gathers together more than 500 faculty and staff from all three campuses for an update on the state of the university.

Aug. 21, 2019 — Red Claws President Dajuan Eubanks shares his story of transformation through education in honor of USM Promise Scholars

Maine Red Claws president and former Harlem Globetrotter Dajuan Eubanks will be the keynote speaker at this USM event celebrating their Promise Scholarship Program, now in its second year. Eubanks, also a member of the USM Foundation Board, will share his story of transformation through education, on and off the court, in his speech titled, “Seizing the Opportunity – Why Education is the Pathway to Success.”

Aug. 15, 2019 — School of Music dreams up another Fall season full of concerts and events

The USM School of Music (SoM) presents another Fall season packed with music for all to enjoy in Gorham, Portland and Westbrook. The season kicks off on Friday, September 27 with the first performance in the Faculty Concert Series, “Let’s Duet - Intimate Conversations for Two,” at Corthell Hall on the Gorham Campus, featuring Robert and Kimberly Lehmann on violin and viola.

8/14/19 - French Intelligence hero Marthe Cohn shares her story of resistance to the Nazis

On August 21 at USM, 99-year-old WWII French resistance hero and Legion of Honor awardee Marthe Cohn will read from her book about her experience gathering intelligence on the Nazis — “Behind Enemy Lines: The True Story of a French Jewish Spy in Nazi Germany."

Aug. 14, 2019 —USM Department of Theatre celebrates the work of women playwrights and directors in its 2019-2020 season

The UUSM Department of Theatre kicks off the 2019-2020 season on Friday, September 6, 7:30 p.m., at Russell Hall on the Gorham Campus with the performance of "Fortune," a quirky romantic comedy about finding love, (or not)! The production is currently part of the 83rd summer season at Deertrees Theatre in Harrison, ME featuring USM students in leading roles; in early September the students bring the performance to their home stage as well as to the Gorham audience.

8/6/19 — USM announces leaders, new members to its volunteer Board of Visitors

The University of Southern Maine is pleased to announce the appointment of five new members to its Board of Visitors. Additionally, the full 20-member Board of Visitors has also elected its chair and vice-chair, Luc Nya and Jane Eberle.

May 22, 2019 — USM makes SAT or ACT tests optional for applicants in most academic programs

The University of Southern Maine is making SAT or ACT tests an optional part of the application process for most undergraduate degrees. The change will go into effect in August 2019.

May 20, 2019 — USM researchers and Maine Wedding Report issue ‘Marry ME’ report, a first-of-its-kind economic analysis of Maine’s growing wedding industry

The Maine Center for Business and Economic Research at University of Southern Maine has partnered with the newly created Maine Wedding Report to issue “Marry ME,” a first-of-its kind economic analysis of Maine’s growing wedding industry.
