Feb. 28, 2019 — Student artwork springs into focus at USM Art Galleries

The USM Maine Art Department and Galleries present the Opening Reception of the 2019 USM Student Juried Exhibition on Thursday, March 14, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the USM Art Gallery in Gorham. On view March 14 - 31, this annual exhibition is open to all USM students submitting work in any media, whether or not they have chosen to pursue a degree in art.

Feb. 27, 2019 —Annual Spring Job Fair at USM will feature more than 100 employers in Portland

USM will welcome more than 100 employers from a variety of industries — including technology, travel, health care, the arts, retail and government — at the 2019 Job Fair on Thursday, March 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (snow date: March 14th) at Sullivan Gym on USM’s Portland Campus.

USM School of Music faculty member Robert Lehmann will guest conduct the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s Discovery Concert, Solar System Symphony, on Sunday, March 3, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland. Acting as a narrator and guide for the concert will be 2016 USM SoM Musical Theater alumnus, Eric Berry-Sandelin.

Feb. 21, 2019 —USM Food Studies to host 2019 Universities Fighting World Hunger Summit, first time in the Northeast

USM Food Studies is hosting the 2019 UFWH Summit, March 14 - 16, bringing more than 500 students, faculty, and activists from across the nation together for two days of action-oriented workshops and inspiring presentations from leaders and activists at the front lines of fighting hunger. This is the first time this Summit has been held in the northeastern United States.

Feb. 20, 2019 —Collaboration between the University of Southern Maine and University of New England creates new pathway for students to careers in Pharmacy

On Thursday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the University of New England's Portland Campus, University of Southern Maine President Glenn Cummings, Ph.D., and University of New England President James D. Herbert, Ph.D., will sign an agreement setting a course for students from USM's Department of Biological Sciences to more easily apply to UNE's College of Pharmacy.

The University of Southern Maine will launch a new baccalaureate Public Health program in the fall of 2019, building on the nationally renowned and accredited Master's in Public Health program at USM's Muskie School of Public Service.

Feb. 19, 2019 —"Celebrating Chamber Music Within Our Communities" features 240 Strings and USM faculty Anastasia Antonacos

The USM School of Music continues the Faculty Concert Series on Saturday, March 2 featuring USM faculty member Anastasia Antonacos and musicians from 240 Strings, a local non-profit organization she co-founded. The concert, "Celebrating Chamber Music Within Our Communities," takes place at 8:00 p.m., at Corthell Concert Hall on the Gorham Campus.

2.14.19 — Dmitry Bam selected as Interim Dean of the University of Maine School of Law


University of Southern Maine President Glenn Cummings announced today that Dmitry Bam, the University of Maine School of Law’s Associate Dean, has been selected as the school’s Interim Dean. He will begin his new position on July 1, the same day that current Dean Danielle Conway assumes her new position at Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law.
