USM Art Department and Side x Side Host Summer Arts Institute for Portland Public School Teachers

Through a shared U.S. Dept. of Education grant, USM and Side x Side are collaborating on Project Imagine, an arts integration program in Portland public schools. As part of Project Imagine, the organizations are hosting a Summer Arts Institute to train Portland public school teachers techniques to integrate the arts and teaching artists into their classrooms.

Cruising Classroom – Boston to Bermuda with USM’s Tourism and Hospitality Students

On May 30, 17 students from the Tourism and Hospitality program will be traveling from Boston to Bermuda on Holland America’s ship M.S. Veendam for a week-long cruise as part of a class. The students have also set up social media feeds where the public can follow them on their adventures. People can follow them on Twitter and Instagram at @usmtourism, and can follow them on Facebook by “liking” USM Tourism and Hospitality’s Facebook page. They will be posting with the hashtag #USMB2B2015.

USM Chamber Singers on European Concert Tour

Marking their sixth European tour, the USM Chamber Singers, conducted by Robert Russell, are performing concerts and recitals in Croatia and Slovenia this month. The group began international touring in 1999 and has performed in Austria, France, Italy, Spain, the U.K., the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland.
