On the December episode of "The USM Update" University of Southern Maine President Glenn Cummings welcomes Rachel Grindle, senior Musical Theatre major, and Ed Reichert, lecturer in Musical Theatre, to discuss the art of puppetry and the School of Music's recent production of the popular musical, "Avenue Q." Watch the segment.

Plus, travel to Montagu, South Africa with students and faculty from USM's Leadership Study Abroad South Africa course. Tara Coste, executive director of Graduate Studies and Leadership and Organizational Studies professor, joins the show to discuss how USM students and faculty are making a difference in South Africa. Watch the segment.

And in the spirit of the holidays, the USM Chamber Singers come in-studio to perform a couple of songs of the season. Watch the segment to see full performances of both songs.

"The USM Update" is a monthly, half-hour program covering all things USM. New episodes air on the first Monday of each month at 8:30 p.m on the Portland-based Community Television Network (CTN) on channel 5.
