In this episode of "The USM Update," University of Southern Maine President Glenn Cummings discusses the many ways USM is preparing students for Maine's workforce through internships, community and corporate partnerships, career development services and more. Watch the full show.
First, we hear from Mary Anderson, lecturer in USM's Master of Occupational Therapy program, plus two of her students to talk about a new free, on-campus MOT clinic at USM's Lewiston-Auburn College. Watch the segment.
And, if you can make it, attend the Community Clinic's grand opening ceremony this Friday, March 9, from 4-7 p.m. at USM's Lewiston-Auburn campus, 51 Westminster St., Lewiston.
Second, Cummings sits down with USM Computer Science Student Zach Rohman and his professor, Hady Ahmady Phoulady, and Jim Smith, CIO of the Maine Office of Information Technology, to talk about the incredible need for computer science graduates to fill Maine's growing technology sector. Check it out.
Last, but not least, Cummings speaks with Sara Ghezzi, lecturer in USM's Tourism and Hospitality program, plus Andrew Leighton, an alumnus of the program, and current student Heather Rock, about Maine's fast-growing tourism industry, and how USM provides real-world opportunities for students to immerse themselves in the field — including a unique partnership between USM, AAA Northern New England and Royal Caribbean International.
