On the September episode of “The USM Update,” the first of the 2017-2018 academic year, University of Southern Maine President Glenn Cummings welcomes guests to talk about corporate partnerships and community engagement at USM, the upcoming 2017 Convocation theme, “Race and Participatory Democracy,” and exciting study abroad opportunities for students in USM’s Honors Program in Iceland. Ainsley Wallace, USM’s vice president of corporate engagement, joins the program with Steve Amendo, director of marketing and communications for Martin’s Point Health Care, to discuss corporate partnerships between USM and Martin's Point, a partnership that has spawned several student internships. Plus, Vitaliy Popov, a USM sophomore, discusses his experience working for Martin’s Point. Watch the segment.
Cummings also welcomes Maine Law Dean Danielle Conway and a host of other figures to talk about the university's upcoming Convocation, "Race and Participatory Democracy,” which will kick off a year-long series of events around the theme beginning Sept. 29.
