The University of Southern Maine (USM) Career & Employment Hub is gearing up for its annual Spring 2019 Job Fair, which promises to draw hundreds of students eager to meet with their potential future employers.
The Job Fair, held on Thursday, March 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will host more than 100 employers from Maine and beyond.
USM’s last Job Fair, held in November, was the first-ever event of its kind held during the Fall semester and drew employers from a variety of industries including health care, engineering, finance and more.
Also held in the Fall semester was the first-ever Engineering Hiring Fair, held at the John Mitchell Center on USM's Gorham Campus, during which the Maine State Chamber and Educate Maine announced their support of Question 4, a $49 million University Workforce Bond approved by voters in November. The funding from that bond will be used to expand workforce development initiatives at USM and throughout the University of Maine System.
In addition to meeting with employers, students attending the Job Fair this March have the opportunity to receive a free professional photo, develop professional relationships off campus, and network with business professionals and each other.
The annual Job Fair is just one of many ways the Career & Employment Hub connects students with their future employers. Other avenues include internships, workshops and consultations with students to build their resumes and prepare for interviews. View a listing of the Career & Employment Hub’s Spring 2019 events.
