Social Work prof Caroline Shanti

The University of Southern Maine’s School of Social Work is pleased to announce the launch of their Master's degree as a part-time, low-residency online program option. Starting mid-May 2019, students wishing to pursue this low-residency online Master's degree option may take 2-3 courses per semester (summer, fall and spring), completing the program in 3 years, and graduating in May 2022.

The courses take place primarily online with 2-3 face-to-face Friday meetings per semester on USM’s Portland campus.

Apply here by March 1, 2019.

Information Sessions on this program are taking place on January 22 in Lewiston and January 24 in Portland – view the schedule here.

The program curriculum is identical to the regular MSW program and is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The only difference between the two options is the program pace and the delivery format for the content, as described above.

The program is being led by USM School of Social Work Assistant Professor Caroline Shanti, LCSW, PhD.
