Law professor wrote opinion column in the Sun Journal on suing big banks

University of Maine School of Law Professor Lois Lupica wrote an opinion piece in the Sun Journal about big banks’ efforts to repeal the consumer’s right to sue.

"The fine print of many consumer contracts takes away our access to the courts," Lupica wrote in the Lewiston newspaper.

The bank contracts force you to take your disputes to a private arbitrator, but Maine's credit unions and small institutions allow you to take your dispute to court, she wrote.

Lois Lupica has studied the experience of customers who were sued with credit-card debt collection proceedings.
