Actor Tony Shalhoub ‘77 has again been nominated for an Emmy Award  for his role on the acclaimed Amazon Prime show, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

In 2019, the alumnus of USM’s Department of Theatre took home the Emmy for his portrayal of Maisel’s fussy patriarch Abe Weissman.

Shalhoub previously won three Emmy Awards as best actor in a comedy for his title role in the TV show, “Monk.” Besides his extensive TV and stage work, he has appeared in many movies including “Big Night,” “Men in Black,” “Galaxy Quest” and “Barton Fink.”

In June 2018, Shalhoub took home his first Tony Award for his role in the musical “The Band’s Visit."

He is currently giving back to USM by serving as the honorary chair of the Leadership Committee for the planned Center for the Arts. The Center, which is in the initial stages of fundraising, will help elevate awareness of our superb reputation in music, theater and the visual arts.

The 2020 Emmy Awards is scheduled to be held on September 20 in Los Angeles.
