USM double alumnus to become RSU 14 superintendent

University of Southern Maine double alumnus Chris Howell will take over a superintendent of Regional School Unit 14 on July 1.  Howell has a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s in teaching and learning from the University of Southern Maine.

Jane Vaughan of wrote a story about the Howell's appointment.

“I definitely see where education really, really can open a ton of doors," said Howell, a first-generation college student. "So to be able now to have a hand in running this organization and this facility is exciting.”

Howell has worked for 23 years in the district, which includes schools in Windham and Raymond, Maine. Looking back, he said he’s most proud of his students and “having had the opportunity to watch all of those individuals grow.”
