USM's Kate Wininger talked about happiness recently with Maine Public's Jennifer Rooks for the radio show "Maine Calling."
"Aristotle frequently talks about happiness and he talked about happiness as both doing well and being virtuous. The ancient Greek philosopher also described happiness as having fortune in life -- something which we cannot control," said Wininger, a professor of philosophy at USM. "And when we're unhappy, creativity such as art, music, or dancing can help to alleviate suffering and even bring happiness."
Wininger is the author of the books, Nietzsche's Reclamation of Philosophy, and Philosophy of Sex.
