USM's Colgan interviewed for AP story about Maine's job market

Charles Colgan, professor emeritus at USM's Muskie School of Public Service, remarked on Maine job growth and the recession in a recent Associated Press story.

Colgan told Correspondent David Sharp that Maine's job gains — roughly 25,000 since the recession — do not overcome other problems in state's job market.

"The fact that we got back to pre-recession levels and are now expanding the economy is good news," Colgan said. "But some of the same factors that have made it difficult to recover are still in play and are going to make job growth in the future continue to be difficult."
