The public is welcome to attend the annual USM Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) Collection open house that will celebrate 25 years of “Southern Maine Pride.”
The open house will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 15 on the 6th Floor of the Glickman Family Library on the Portland campus. There will be light refreshments and a cash bar during the event.

The LGBT Collection, which includes the papers of activist Frannie Peabody and photographs by Annette Dragon, is part of USM’s Jean Byers Sampson Center for Diversity. Named in memory of Sampson, the Center's mission is to promote interest and knowledge about Maine's diverse cultural fabric. Sampson was a Lewiston resident who founded the first NAACP chapter in Maine and served as executive director of the Maine Civil Liberties Union and as chair of the University of Maine System Board of Trustees.
