USM Associate Professor Ronald Schmidt was quoted in a Portland Press Herald story about Sen. Angus King's use of Instagram.
The story, by reporter Bob Keyes, looked at the Maine senator's use of selfies and sometimes artistic images.
Schmidt applauded Sen. King's ability to convey both his perspective and his personality through a visual narrative.
"Individual politicians can have a difficult time to make the internet work for them. It's hard to hit the right tone to give the voters a sense of who you are and do that before your opposition does," Schmidt told Keyes. "But Sen. King is smart. The personal stories and photographs are unique."
