A new article published in the Journal of the North Atlantic and Arctic notes USM's role in the growing relationship between Maine and Iceland.

“Over the past two and a half years, over 80 graduate and undergraduate students from the University of Southern Maine, USM, have gone to Iceland for hands-on international educational experiences,” wrote Marnie MacLean. In addition to the study abroad, “USM has also hosted visiting faculty from the University of Iceland and the University of Akureyri in the fields of environmental science, public health, and gender studies.”

Danielle Conway, the dean of the University of Maine School of Law, and Ross Hickey, assistant provost for Research Integrity, were photographed in the article as part of the Maine delegation at the Arctic Frontiers conference in Tromsö, Norway.

The journal also features photos by USM alum Justin Levesque.
