Watch: A musical farewell to 2018

USM Chamber Singers

As the end of the Fall 2018 semester nears, University of Southern Maine (USM) President Glenn Cummings sat down with several members of our renowned School of Music on the new episode of "The USM Update" to discuss their semesters' work and to wish viewers a safe and happy holiday season.

President Cummings sits down with Malinda Haslett, USM’s new director of voice studies, and Jackie Townsend, our new director of bands, to talk about their first semesters at USM — their goals, what it’s like working with our students and what they are planning for the future.

Next, Director of Choral Studies Nicolás Dosman appears on the show to discuss his role for the second year as Chorus Master in the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s annual show “Magic of Christmas," as well as an international touring opportunity for School of Music students.

Finally, we close the show as Dosman and graduate student conductor Heather Guifoyle conduct selections from the USM Chamber Singers’ annual holiday concert, “Joyous Sounds for a Festive Season.”
