WMPG's 10th Annual Fashion Show

Local designers of wearable art for women, men and children will show their most creative fashions on the WMPG runway on Sunday May 4 at Port City Music Hall, Portland. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. fashion show. Tickets for this all-ages show are $10 in advance or $20 for preferred seating through online through Port City Music Hall or $12 at the door. Student tickets are $5 for those with a valid photo ID.

A silent auction begins at 7 p.m., offering gift certificates for local restaurants, salons, yoga, Pilates, clothing shops, jewelry and much more.

Artistic Director Cindy Flanders reports that this year’s show includes works from new and returning designers. Styles run the spectrum from formal to street wear, statement jewelry pieces, repurposed, upcycled and embellished clothing as well as vintage inspired garments. Live runway music will be by local artist The Moodiest.

Opening entertainment will be by vaudeville troupe Dark Follies and The Hoop Vixzens, who dance and dazzle with LED hoop antics.

Returning designers include Aquarius Funkk, Metrey, ELynn Design, Giselle Larios, Stephanie Harmon, Emma Egan, Ivy Ferrelli, and Blackbird Mercantile. Showing for the first time are Kelli Burnham, Yuman Design, Sassy Frassy Lassy plus works from A Gathering of Stitches.

The WMPG Fashion Show is a benefit for WMPG Community Radio, a volunteer-driven non-profit community radio station broadcasting 24 hours per day from the Portland campus of the University of Southern Maine. WMPG broadcasts an eclectic schedule of programming, which includes music of many genres, local public affairs, and news, all free from corporate influence.
