Students in RSP 299 Exploring Culture enjoyed a visit from President Glenn Cummings on their last day of class.
We were happy to greet the President, professors, and friends with refreshments and conversation at the end of a busy semester.
Students had the chance to show visitors their final projects, in which they curated a set of significant images and provided caption notes. After a semester of looking at cultural artefacts, this was an opportunity to create their own "map."
Here, Fiona Grady is explaining her arrangement of iconic portraits by Richard Avedon and Dorothea Lange alongside pictures of a family ski trip and a Boston Bruins game. While they do not come from the same time periods or perspectives, all these images make up a kind of "vocabulary" meaningful to their author.
