Blackwood Family Scholarship


Distinguished USM alumni Bob Blackwood MA '78 BS '82 and Jill Blackwood MA '83 desire to create a lasting scholarship which will benefit graduates of South Portland High School. The scholarship is open to all applicants regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, veteran status or disability.


The scholarship will be available to students who have been accepted for admission or are enrolled at the University of Southern Maine. Scholarships will be awarded to graduates of South Portland High School, South Portland, Maine. The student awarded this scholarship shall have demonstrated successful academic performance with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Award Amount

$1,600 renewable for up to 7 semesters

Maintain a 2.50 GPA and full-time enrollment.

Every academically qualified student from New Hampshire and Vermont can attend USM for less than the cost of in-state tuition in their home states. Application deadline is April 1.
