Lucille T. Laliberte Working Mother Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established at the University of Southern Maine Foundation in 2008, by Lucille T. Laliberte. The intent of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a single female custodial guardian with at least one dependent child, enrolled as a student either part-time or full-time primarily at the University of Southern Maine Lewiston-Auburn College. A single female custodial guardian includes a biological mother, mother by legal adoption, grandmother, aunt or cousin of a dependent child or children to whom the court has awarded permanent custody until the child/children attain the age of 18 years. For the purpose of this scholarship, the term "single female custodial guardian" does not include women who are foster care givers under the supervision of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

Eligible students must be single female custodial guardians (as outlined above) with at least one child, either part-time or full-time, with a demonstrated financial need. Priority is given to a resident of Lewiston or Sabattus, Maine at time of award. If there are no eligible students from Lewiston or Sabattus, all eligible students from Lewiston Auburn College will be considered.
