Welcome Home Scholarship


In uncertain times, we recognize that so many Maine families are seeking safe, quality, and affordable options closer to home.  We are proudly Maine's trusted destination for transfer students each year. To help, USM is allocating limited one-time funds for transfer students who are Maine residents applying to return home from a four-year out-of-state institution, and who seek to enroll in Fall 2020.  

Post April 1, USM Admissions commits to providing a prompt decision (within two-to-five business days) to transfer applicants who have submitted a complete application


1) Maine Resident

2) Transferring to USM from a four year out-of-state institution.  

3) 2.75 (B-) or greater grade point average at point of admission.  

4) Students must complete their USM application by June 30 for enrolling Fall 2020, including the submission of their official college transcripts and high school transcript.  

Only first time Bachelor's Degree seekers are eligible for Merit Scholarships. 

Students admitted conditionally are not eligible for Merit Scholarships. 

Students must take a minimum of 12 credits during Fall and Spring semesters.

$1,000.00 - $2,000.00

How to Apply

Students must complete their USM application. Including the submission of their official college transcripts and high school transcript if they have not earned an associates degree already.

* This is a one-time transfer assistance scholarship, and a non-renewable award.
