USM Enactus Team Wins Regional Championship

Enactus is a community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world.  The name is a mash-up of entrepreneurial, action and us (a group of connected people).  It is an international non-profit organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.

2013 Enactus Presenters

This year, 170 USM Enactus students did twenty-one community projects, improving the lives of juvenile detainees, potential high school drop-outs, people suffering from hunger, local small business owners, a wide variety of people with financial literacy needs, and entrepreneurs ranging in age from elementary school to twenty something.  Team members were thoughtful, dedicated and professional, but mostly they were passionate about their work.

""In early April, our Enactus team told its story to a panel of judges at the New York Regional Competition, attended by over thirty colleges and universities from the northeast.  It won the “4.0 Club Award” for having a perfect team index score, and the “Club 44 Award” for having more than 44 members.  The team emerged as one of the Regional Champions and will compete in the Enactus National Exposition in Kansas City in May.  Last year’s team finished among the top sixty teams (of almost 600) in the United States, and this year’s team will be aspiring to a similar showing.
