Andrew Hudacs is the Director of the Office of Educator Preparation and Professional Development Center. Prior to coming to the University of Southern Maine (USM), Andrew completed 10 years of service in two state education agencies. At the Maine Department of Education (DOE), he was the Director of Assessment and the State Coordinator of National and International Assessments. In these roles, he oversaw statewide assessments for the purposes of academic achievement, English Learner proficiency, and accountability under federal requirements. Prior to working at the Maine DOE, Andrew worked in the fields of school improvement, career and technical education, and assessments at the Vermont Agency of Education. These responsibilities included managing state and federal grants, program development, assessment administration, and statewide professional development for career and technical educators. His experience working in PK-12 schools includes serving as a middle and high school counselor and special needs coordinator.
Andrew's areas of expertise and research interests include pre-college factors related to college persistence, education and workforce development in rural communities, organizational leadership to reduce socioeconomic achievement gaps, preparation for college and careers through PK-16 public education systems, and the administration of large-scale assessment systems.
