We offer seven degrees with over 30 different program options, in the fields of education and human development at the certificate, master’s, certificate of advanced study, and doctoral levels.

USM master's candidate Amber Russo has been named Thornton Academy's Teacher of the Year and is the school's nomination for 2016 Maine Teacher of the Year.

University of Southern Maine Ph.D. candidate Katie Hawes has been selected the next superintendent of RSU 21. Hawes will take over for interim superintendent Kevin Crowley on July 1 after receiving unanimous support from the RSU 21 Board of Directors.
University of Southern Maine Counseling Education Masters Degree
The University of Southern Maine and University of Maine at Farmington have worked in partnership to create a new academic program to address the national shortage of rehabilitation counselors. The Counseling 3+2 (BS to MSC) degree, which begins in Fall 2015, allows students to achieve both their bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation service and master’s degree in counseling in five years, rather than the typical six.
