Gateway to Opportunity June 25 - August 2, 2018 @ Portland, ME
Over the past two summers, G2O has connected young people with meaningful, work-based learning opportunities throughout the Portland community. In 2016, the program began as a pilot and concluded successfully with 22 low-income students from the Portland Public Schools completing over 2,900 hours of project work on four community-based projects with different organizations serving as host sites. This past summer, the program doubled in size with over 40 youth completing over 4,000 hours of work on eight projects at host sites ranging from the Greater Portland Council of Governments, Portland Public School's East End Community School, and the Portland Housing Authority. For more information about the program, check out the program website here.
G2O is looking for USM STEM Students to serve as Team Leaders for 20 hours/week and provide near-peer support, supervision, and direction to a STEM specific project team. Apply here and attend the info session held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 12:30PM-1:10PM at the Deering High School Cafeteria.
