All Stonecoast MFA students attending residencies, including graduating students, commuters, and those attending in Ireland, must provide the Stonecoast staff with their room & board preference and emergency contact information by submitting this form each April (prior to summer residency) and October (prior to winter residency).
Our 2016 summer residency will be held in Brunswick, Maine. Our locations, once again, will be the campus of Bowdoin College (daytime activities) and the Brunswick Hotel & Tavern (nighttime activities). This summer's dates are Friday, July 8th through Monday, July 18th. The deadline to submit this summer's Residency Information Form is April 25th, 2016.
Those who sign up for full room and board this summer will receive 10 nights of lodging in a single dorm room on the campus of Bowdoin College with three daily meals in the Bowdoin dining hall. Dining services will accommodate students with special dietary needs. So we are aware of your needs, please include this information in the appropriate field of this form.
Those who opt out of full room and board must be signed up as a commuter. The commuter fee includes daily lunch service.
Residency fees are collected by the program to pay for all services provided at the residency, not just for meals and lodging. These services include, but are not limited to, special events, the rental of classroom space, and transportation.
Anyone interested in finding alternative accommodations for the duration of the residency would be advised to start looking for available hotel or rental reservations well in advance. July is peak season for tourism here in Maine.
Graduating students who do not plan to attend the entire 10 days of the residency, and opt out of full room and board, must still fill out the Residency Information form and be signed up as commuters. Should any graduating students be interested in accommodations at Bowdoin College for less that the 10 nights covered by full room and board should make this request in the comments field of this form and contact the Stonecoast MFA office for more details.
We strongly recommend to all students traveling from the west coast or overseas to arrive to the residency a day early in order to catch up with the time change and avoid fatigue on the first day. For these folks, and anyone else who might be interested, we can offer the option of 11 nights at the Bowdoin dorm starting a day earlier (extra nights will be paid for by student directly to Bowdoin College). Also, for those who might arrive a day early but also depart one day early, we could arrange for 10 nights of lodging starting on Thursday, July 7th and with check out on Sunday, July 17th. Another option is to stay at an Portland area hotel near the Jetport on Thursday evening the 7th and take one of our shuttles to Brunswick on Friday the 8th. If you're interested in booking an extra night, or a night early, please contact our office firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 207-780-5262 well in advance and be sure to include this information/request in the comments field of this form.
Depending on demand, we will provide transportation service between Portland locations and Brunswick for arrivals on Friday, July 8th between 10 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and departures on both Sunday afternoon, January 17th and Monday morning, January 18th. Students who want to take advantage of this service must submit the Transportation Request Form by early June.
