This weekend at the 2013 Hugo Awards, Stonecoast's Mur Lafferty won the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. The award is given to the best new professional science fiction or fantasy writer of 2011 or 2012 and is sponsored by Dell Magazines. This year's Cambell award had over 476 nominees, and while the Campbell award is not officially a Hugo Award, it was administered along with the Hugo Awards.

Mur Lafferty is an author, podcaster, and editor. She lives in Durham, NC, with her husband and 10 year old daughter. Her first professionally published book, The Shambling Guide to New York City, is in book stores now.
