Group Activities

 

Belly Dance:
Have lots of fun, reduce stress, and celebrate the fabulous woman that you are by learning the proud and joyful art of belly dance! A 7 week session will introduce you to the basics of belly dance in a unique way: learning to dance from the inside out by connecting breath to movement and feeling technique instead of imitating movement. This class will have a meditative but still vigorous and fun component. No previous dance experience is required. Choreography will be replaced by your natural movement enhanced, explored, and refined, then seamlessly linked together to create phrases of belly dance. (You’re going to be awesome!) There will be an end of class show for those who wish to perform. This class is best suited for beginner and beginner/intermediate level.

Instructor Anabee Beal has been involved with the ancient art form of Middle Eastern Dance for over ten years.  Her classes focus on basic techniques, musicality and learning some of the history behind the dance.

Cross Training:
This program includes cardiovascular and anaerobic exercises, strength training, and plyometrics! This is an advanced group exercise fitness program. Class is appropriate for all fitness levels.

Schedule: M-W-F, 5:15 pm-6:00 pm (3 day a week offering)
Drop in as part of the ongoing year round group exercising together boot camp style!

$100 without membership.  $5.00 guest day fee

Indoor Walk/Jog Drop In AM or Noon Opttions:
Open gym time for walking/jogging.  The main gym is 12 laps to a mile.
Schedule: M-W-F 6:00am-9:00am (3 day a week offering)
Schedule: T-Th 12:00pm-1:00pm (2 day/week)  NEW TIME
Fee: Free to Students, Alumni, Faculty/Staff or Gen Public 
        w/membership w/Campus ID & current  gym membership,
        $5 drop-in day fee for all non-members

Pickleball:
A paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

Weigh In Wednesday!
Join your health coach every Wednesday to weigh in not only your body but your thoughts, ideas and experiences too! We will begin each session with a weigh in for accountability followed by discussion of wellness topics of interest. This gathering will be held from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm each Wednesday beginning September 16th, 2015, in the multipurpose room at Sullivan Complex. Women's Strength & Power Hour:
Cardio and interval training to maximize weight loss, strenght training for bone density, core stability for toning, and flexibility for balance and joint mobility.  Get all the benefits of a good balanced work-out.  Modifications can be made to meet different fitness levels.

Yoga Class offerings:
Pre-registration for yoga class offerings is a must.  If you are signing up for this program,
you should be prepared to make a 12 week commitment to one class per week.
 
Each individual Yoga session is per time/session/cannot be combined

Classic Yoga
- Make your day with our noon yoga class.  A gentle to moderate class in the traditional (Iyengar) hatha yoga style. Suitable for beginners as well as more advanced students this all-level class will increase flexibility, endurance, focus and concentration while it tones and strengthens.  Regular, restorative, and relaxation poses and guided visualizations are all included.

All Levels Vinyasa Flow Yoga - Using a mind-focusing breathing technique and an intentional sequence of postures, Sarah teaches a creative slow vinyasa-based practice which incorporates some principles of Iyengar Yoga. The result is an athletic and peaceful, invigorating and calming, fun and challenging yoga experience. This class will empower students and allow them to experience full self-acceptance, outer strength, and inner calm.   No prior yoga experience is necessary.
