The University of Southern Maine in conjunction with the Green Campus Consortium of Maine will be hosting the 15th annual NECSC Conference in Portland, Maine!
This two-day conference will be an engaging mix of presentation sessions, round table discussions and informal networking opportunities all about sustainability in higher education. Our theme this year, Trends in Northeast Sustainability Challenges, will examine the issues universities and colleges currently and anticipate facing in the Northeast region. Some topics to be explored might include: Scope 3 Reductions; Waste Management; Sustainable Food Sourcing; Net Zero Energy Building and Strategic Planning & Implementation.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Uber, Lyft or Taxi Service can take you to and from your hotel. Once there, depending on which hotel you are staying at, you can either take the METRO bus (Husky Line) or take a short walk to campus.
Once in town, feel free to park your car and utilize Portland's METRO (Husky Line) bus that drops off directly in front of the venue or walk to campus depending on which hotel you're staying at. The fee for the husky line is $1.50 one way.
Parking at the venue:
Parking is free in the parking garage next to the venue on Bedford Street. The Abromson Community EducationCenter can be accessed from within the parking garage. The parking garage closes at 10:30pm. please do not leave your car in the garage past 10:30pm on Monday or Tuesday night.
Greater Portland METRO
Both hotels can be accessed via walking or METRO bus. Google maps and the Transit App both are great ways to figure out how to get to the venue via public transportation.

What should I bring into the event?
While we are doing our best to make the conference as plastic and single-use free as possible, we encourage you to bring a reusable coffee mug or water bottle.
What meals will be provided during the conference?
Monday June 17th
Expect a sit down dinner featuring local food from the Maine and New England Region
Tuesday June 18th
We will not be serving breakfast. However, both hotels serve complimentary breakfast and we encourage you to explore what the City of Portland has to offer. Because of this, the conference will have a later start.
For the rest of the day, a mid-morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack, all featuring local food, will be provided.
Dinner on Tuesday evening will be off site. Once registered, you can expect more details as the event gets closer.
