It's Spring Cleaning Time!
Got some old or unwanted electronics taking up space in your house? Get rid of them the environmentally friendly way! Drop them off at the USM Portland Campus to be recycled between 9a-1p on Saturday, April 22, 2017. This event is FREE, open to the public, and will take place rain or shine!
Many components of household electronics are recyclable and reusable so be sure to bring in anything you are no longer using. Electronics and appliances also often contain chemicals and substances that are hazardous to humans and the environment, so they don't belong in the trash! Please bring in all of your (and your neighbor's, friend's, and family's) unneeded electronics and keep them out of the waste stream.
We will be accepting monetary donations for the Maine Children's Cancer Program at this event - show your appreciation for free recycling by bringing and donating a bit of cash.
The following items will be accepted and taken to a local recycling facility for FREE:
- Computers & Laptops, Hard Drives
- Keyboards, mice, speakers & other peripherals
- Printers, Copiers, Scanners, Fax Machines
- Stereo Equipment
- Cords, chargers, wires
- VCR / DVD / CD Players
- Cell Phones, telephones
- Other household electronic waste
PLEASE NOTE: This year we cannot accept the following items: refrigerators, air conditioners and humidifers, batteries, light bulbs, or smoke detectors. Please check with you local transfer station, or take these to Portland's Riverside Recycling Center.
We are in need of volunteers to staff this event: Come have fun with us! All volunteers will receive breakfast, lunch, and a FREE ticket to the Sea Dogs. Please sign up to volunteer here.
Thanks to North Coast Recycling, the Portland Seadogs, Troiano Waste Services, and The City of Portland for their help with this effort!
