Karen earned a B.A. from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and a Masters in Social Work from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. She is  a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Life and Wellness Coach specializing in assisting individuals with an integrative approach to wellness. Karen provides counseling to  adults,  couples and groups . She specializes in assisting clients experiencing anxiety, depression, having difficulty adjusting to transitions, dealing with grief, and issues of finding meaning in one's life. She is  experienced in working with women surrounding issues regarding body image and self-esteem, mind-body connection, eating disorders and mid-life transition.

Most recently Karen became a CDWF (Certiï'ed Daring Way Facilitator(tm)) after training with Brené Brown, PhD. and her team in 2011. The primary focus of The Daring Way(tm) is on developing shame resilience skills and developing a courage practice that transforms the way we live, love, parent, and lead. Karen, an Adjunct Professor at The University of Southern Maine teaches SWO393 ( Generalist Practice ) for Bachelor level social work students.
