School of Social Work
Two members of the University of Southern Maine community have been awarded a three-year, $300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Violence Against Women, to foster a healthy campus climate for USM students, faculty, and staff.
Thomas Waltz and Ashleigh Guild, students in the USM Masters of Social Work program were featured in the Portland Daily Sun article "'Off the Cuff' gives homeless an acting outlet"
Dr. Susan Fineran, director of the School of Social Work, presented her co-authored paper “Gender, Sexual Orientation, and the Impact of Sexual Harassment Experiences on School Outcomes” at the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Society for the Study of Social Problems.
Roya Hejabian, who graduated this year from the USM Master of Social Work program and served as a 2013 commencement speaker, was featured in the Portland Press Herald article "USM graduate celebrates freedom to learn."
School of Social Work students and Professor David Wagner were featured in the Portland Daily Sun for their efforts to raise awareness of the homeless and the need for affordable housing in downtown Portland.
Thinking Matters is a student research, scholarship, and creativity symposium at USM.
