Each spring, the Department of Technology faculty selects one student to be awarded the William H. Moore Award. The student is chosen by faculty in a nomination and voting process. This award is a gift of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis W. Moore, teachers in the Amherst, Massachusetts public school system. It is named for their son, Dr. William H. Moore, who is a Professor Emeritus with the Department of Technology. It is given annually to a senior, a Technology major, for excellence in the program.
The year’s award recipient of the William H. Moore award is Andrew Nickless.
Andrew is a senior majoring in Technology Management with a concentration on Electro-Mechanical Systems. Andrew joined the department after transferring from SMCC. While at USM, Andrew has excelled in his coursework, and has appeared on the Dean’s list numerous times.
One faculty member in the department, Dr. Sussman, writes “Andrew knows that Technology Management is about leadership, and he makes every effort to practice those kinds of skills with his peers. He is a student who is keen to get the most out of a class and program. That drive for excellence makes him a self-starter who strives for excellence, knowing that what he learned will help him be successful in his future workplace.”
