The Department of Technology in the College of Science, Technology, and Health provides degree programs and services related to manufacturing, construction, information technology and technology management.

Technology is the study of the creation and utilization of adaptive systems including tools, machines, materials, techniques, and technical means, and the relationship of those elements and systems to human beings, society, and the environment. In the department, technological concepts and skills are presented through a variety of approaches including lectures, laboratory activities, field experiences, industrial visits, and cooperative programs.

The curricula of the Department of Technology provides a blend of general education, technical, and professional courses designed to prepare individuals for careers as leaders in business, industry, and technical services. Several degree programs and options leading to a bachelor of science degree are offered by the department. Each program is designed to meet the educational needs of students with a variety of backgrounds and career aspirations.

Dr. John Marshall and his daughters
We are sadden to report that our USM colleague John Marshall passed away last 12/18/15 at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough. Professor Marshall taught here for the past 20 years in the Department of Technology on the Gorham campus. John was a true educator. His passion was teaching and his students always came first. He also loved to tell jokes, which is why his family asks that you honor his memory by sharing a joke with someone you know. On July 31, 2013, a dozen students from the Sebago Educational Alliance visited the USM Gorham campus and the Department of Technology.
Department of Technology faculty presented at conferences in Tennessee and Louisiana.
