Tourism and Hospitality

Tourism & Hospitality Student Featured on Amtrak Blog

New USM student Zackary Coro, from Madison, Maine, loves the train, especially Amtrak's Downeaster. So much so that he wrote a letter to Amtrak after a recent ride from Boston to tell them how much he enjoyed the trip. The letter prompted Amtrak to contact Zackary and interview him for their blog, All Aboard!

Zackary, a transfer student who spent his first year at Fisher College in Boston, is joining the Program in Tourism & Hospitality this fall. In addition to his fascination with the transportation industry, Zackary is interested in hospitality management and might eventually work in this sector. This semester he'll take the program's new courses in Tourism & Hospitality Management and Sustainable Hospitality Management.

Zackary joins nine other new students entering the TAH program as it begins its second year. Currently there are 40 students in the interdisciplinary degree, which combines courses from several fields and provides a holistic, global perspective on tourism while preparing students for careers in the travel industry in Maine and beyond.
