Riko Bol is a first-generation South Sudanese, Ethiopian immigrant of Maine. He joins the TRIO Scholars program as an Advisor and brings a rich background to the role. Riko is dedicated to supporting the whole student; his background in youth and leadership development, community engagement, activism, education, and lived experience gives him a unique perspective and skills to support and guide TRIO Scholar Students where they need it most. Riko came to the United States in 1995 to pursue his education and to begin a new life. He attended all Portland Public Schools and went on to graduate from a liberal college, Brandeis University. He has worked with prominent organizations like City Year, AmeriCorps, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine. Riko, like both of his parents, is a born leader and has developed a passion to help others succeed and reach their goals. As an advisor, Riko is committed and dedicated to improving the human condition through investment, involvement, and commitment.
