In the past, Gail has worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA member, in community service/service-learning at colleges, residential life, and TRIO Upward Bound (college access). She is an alumna of USM, having done her master’s degree here. She also lived on college campuses for 13 years; yes you read that correctly - 13 years! Her oldest child, even lived on the USM campus for the first couple years of his life. Feel free to ask all kinds of college related questions!
Unfortunately, Gail's undergraduate college did not have a TRIO Student Support Services program, although she was eligible and would have benefited from the assistance. As a first generation, income eligible student, she felt like visitor in a foreign land at the small, private liberal arts college. Fortunately, there were many kind faculty and staff that helped her get her bearings. One of the reasons she enjoys and feels called to partnering with students here at USM, is to pay it forward to other students to have a positive experience and successfully graduate!
