WGS Awards Reception on Friday April 12th

Women and Gender Studies

On Friday, April 12th (from 4 to 6 pm in Wishcamper 102), the Women and Gender Studies program will be hosting a special reception to present our annual awards.  This year's recipients are:

"Outstanding Alum Award" - Julia Davidson (for a graduate who best represents the feminist ideals and the intellectual and political mission of the program) class of 2008; employed at Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine);

"Friend of Women and Gender Studies Award" (for a community member who represents the feminist ideals and the mission of the program) - Megan Williams (President of Hardy Girls Healthy Women);

and the new "Nancy K. Gish Award for Outstanding Feminist Practice" - Gabriel Demaine (Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusivity Programming at USM).

We will also be presenting the MacPherson Award for Outstanding Feminist Faculty as well as celebrating the accomplishments of our graduating seniors. The reception will also offer an opportunity to celebrate Christine Holden's retirement.
