Payment for Winter is appreciated within ten calendar days of registration.  A payment plan is available.  Thank you!

How to Pay:

Please note: Winter charges should be accessed on MaineStreet. Paper billing statements will not be mailed for Winter charges.

  • In Person with Cash/Check - Payment may be made at one of the offices of Student Financial Services:  in Portland (Payson Smith Hall); Gorham (Bailey Hall); and Lewiston-Auburn (LAC). Checks should be made payable to the University of Southern Maine with the student's complete name and (7-digit) MaineStreet ID number clearly indicated on the check.
  • On MaineStreet with a Debit Card, Credit Card, or E-Check (electronic check) - Students are able to view and pay bills, self-enroll in a payment plan, and authorize others to make online payments via MaineStreet. Payment may be completed on MaineStreet through your Student Center via Bill + Payment Suite. For information on how to make a payment in MaineStreet, please view our quick guide or contact the office of Student Financial Services at (207)780-5250.  USM accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

    Please be aware that credit and debit card payments are processed by Touchnet, an external payment processing company. Touchnet will charge a 2.75% (minimum $3.00) non-refundable convenience fee for all credit or debit card payments made to a student account. There is no fee to pay with an E-Check.


Payment Plan

A student registering for Winter can elect to enroll in a payment plan. The payment plan for Winter is a 4-installment plan, with the first payment due at the time of enrollment and the three remaining payments due Oct 15th, Nov 15th, and Dec 15th. There is a $30 payment plan enrollment fee.

If a student is already in a Fall payment plan, any Winter charges will be added to the existing Fall plan, increasing the amount due for payments remaining.


Refund Policy

Tuition and mandatory fees for dropped Winter classes will be reduced in accordance with the schedule below. 

For purposes of calculating financial adjustments when a student withdraws from a 4-week Winter class, the attendance period begins on December 21, 2015:

100%       Prior to the end of the fourth day (4 days)         December 24, 2015
    0%        Any drop after December 24, 2015
