William Dexter, M.D., FACSM, Medical Director of the University of Southern Maine’s (USM) Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) and Team Physician for USM’s Department of Athletics, has recently been named President-Elect of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

The Department of Exercise, Health and Sport Sciences Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) recently received a three year accreditation extension from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).

Faculty member Ben Towne spent his February break in Lake Placid, NY, serving as an athletic trainer for the United States Bobsled and Skeleton teams. Towne was invited to help provide medical coverage for olympic-level athletes competing in the 2012 World Championships of Bobsled and Skeleton, a two-week competition held in Lake Placid.
