More than $12 million in scholarships
Through generous donations from our alumni, the business community, and ongoing financial investments in our students from University resources, we are pleased to offer scholarship aid to support our students. Scholarships offer valuable financial aid you don’t have to repay later.

Over $18 million in grants
Grants funded by the University or the Federal or state government are awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate a financial need. These awards are not dependent on academic standing and they do not need to be repaid — grants are free money to help reduce your student debt. Learn more.

About faculty-nominated scholarships
Our faculty care about your success — academically, personally, and financially. A number of our scholarships are sponsored by USM’s colleges and schools, and faculty nominate the student award recipients. So get to know your professors! They’re also an invaluable information resource and can connect you with opportunities in your field of study.
The Promise Scholarship
Designed for students who have shown a dedication to leadership through their youth development organizations, this scholarship is awarded to students who are often the first member of their family to attend college.

University of Maine System Affiliation Scholarships
A number of scholarships have been established for students within the University of Maine System who are affiliated with specific places, families, companies, or organizations.

External Scholarships
In addition to scholarships provided by the University, there are many external scholarship opportunities provided by state, national, and global organizations. Please note that USM is not responsible for external scholarship program information or the selection of award recipients.
