The Into the Mud Challenge event features a unique 2.5 mile mud filled course with muddy, fun obstacles for all ages, and draws participants from all over New England and parts of Canada. In true mud run tradition, participant costumes are encouraged and rewarded.

The course design and layout is nearly complete and will boast approximately 25 obstacles, both natural and man-made. ITMC Course operations coordinator Kevin Pitts said, “This year’s race is going to be a lot of fun. Dirty, but fun! Participants should be ready to crawl, slip, slide, and slop through lots of mud. We are also introducing some brand new obstacles this year which we feel will make this the best Into the Mud Challenge yet.” Some of the new obstacles this year include the “Foam Finish” the “Car Wash” and the “Mud Pit Shimmy”.

Spectators are welcome at the event and can view participants slogging through our signature mud pit as well as on various obstacles throughout the course. There is a great race-day atmosphere with a costume contest, DJ, lawn games, and, Sebago Brewing Company onsite providing artisanal sandwiches and beverages. New this year, Sebago Brewing Company will also have a selection of the finest craft beers available for purchase.

Proceeds from the student-run event directly support the USM Sport Management Scholarship fund.

The 2014 Into the Mud Challenge is sponsored by Oakhurst.
