The Writing Center at USM's Lewiston-Auburn College

Hours and Overview

The Writing Center is open to all members of the USM  community to consult on any type of writing at any stage of the process. We believe that all writing can benefit from a second set of eyes. Our staff of Writing Assistants is available to work one-to-one with you about your writing—whether it is a budding idea, a finished draft or anything in between.

Writing Assistants can help you generate and organize your ideas, sharpen your critical thinking skills, integrate and document your research materials, and develop a more sophisticated writing style. Although they will not proofread or edit your paper, they will help you recognize your own writing errors and develop strategies for correcting them.

The Writing Center at USM LAC also offers workshops on academic writing-related topics.

To make an appointment: visit and select Writing at LAC or Writing Online at LAC, or stop by the Writing Center (room 187), or call 753-6513.
