The Osher School of Music welcomes the Duo Franchini, sisters Sefania, violin and Cecilia Franchini, piano, for an afternoon concert and master class.

Stefania and Cecilia, born in Verona from a musician family, have been playing together since their earliest years. As Duo Franchini and with their brother Raffaele, as Trio Franchini violin, cello and piano, their musical adventure started when they were in their tens, they performed since in different major italian towns earning success and positive reviews. “Corso di perfezionamento con il ‘Trio di Trieste’” – Masterclass course with ‘Trio di Trieste’ – in Duino and the three years long School with Pier Narciso Masi at Imola’s Piano Academy, where they were especially mentioned for the great performing fantasy, the research for sound fusion and the remarkable instrumental skill, are among the steps their studying process long. The Franchini siblings have been invited to perfom in Italy and abroad as well, playing for Music Festivals in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Spain, Luxembourg, Cech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Turkey, Romania,Georgia, Estonia, Lituania, Canada, Chile, Argentina, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Australia, Japan, Singapore.
They also recorded music for the Italian National Radio, Vatican radio and other italian broadcast stations. The marriage between Stefania and Stefano Morgione brought also a new musical opportunity and the Trio became a Quartet – violin, viola, cello and piano – widening the program repertoire and meanwhile focusing on the research of Italian repertoire for piano quartet, trio and duo.

STEFANIA FRANCHINI graduated with honors in violin very young at the Conservatory “G. Verdi “in Milan.
His artistic career began as a child, winning national and international competitions for young violinists such as Pescara, Patti (Messina), Stresa, Chiavari, Biella, etc. She continued her studies in Fiesole with Stefan Gheorghiu, in Geneva with Corrado Romano, in Portogruaro with Pavel Vernikov and at the Accademia Chigiana with Boris Belkin. She devoted particolar care to chamber music under the guidance of the “Trio di Trieste” in Duino (Trieste) and Riccardo Brengola at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. Winner of several competitions and auditions in the major orchestras and chamber groups, also as first part, she has collaborated with the following institutions: “La Fenice” in Venice, Orchestra Regionale Toscana, Teatro Comunale of Treviso, Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, Philharmonische Werkstatt Schweiz, Meininger Philharmonischer Orchestra, Orchestra Internazionale of Italy. She collaborated with “I Solisti Aquilani” with which she toured in Lithuania, Estonia, Vietnam, Singapore, Poland, etc.. She holds a degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University “D’Annunzio” in Pescara and a master in “The musical cultures of the Twentieth Century” at the University of “Tor Vergata” of Rome . She is Professor of String chamber Music at the Conservatory of Pescara and the Head of the International Office.

CECILIA FRANCHINI graduated with honors in piano at just 17 years of age at the Conservatoire C. Pollini in Padova. Further studies with V. Pavarana, A. Lonquich and in 1996 she obtained a Konzert Diplom at the Musik-Akadamie der Stadt in Basilea under the teaching of P.Efler.

She has mastered at the Scuola Superiore di Musica da Camera ‘Trio di Trieste’, and with P.Masi at the Accademia Pianistica of Imola, receiving a special mention of merit. After taking a public examination she became the youngest Italian Chamber Music Conservatoire teacher, at the age of 23 and has been professor of Chamber Music at the Conservatoire ‘B. Marcello’ in Venice since 1996. She is the Head of the International Office and the referent for Study in Venice network at the Conservatory. Chamber music has always been a central part of her musical life, initially in piano trio and in duo with cello with her siblings and subsequently with wind instruments and voice. Invited to perform in Italy and abroad to Festivals in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Spain, Ireland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Australia, South-America, Kazakhstan, China, Dubai. Her interest and openness towards other cultural environments lead her to found in Venice the Simultaneo Ensemble, a contemporary chamber music laboratory created in 2003 for the study, performance and appraisal of this particular Venetian, Italian and international repertoire. Simultaneo Ensemble premiered at Saltzburg Mozarteum and carried out different projects, monographs from Messiaen (2005), Dalla Vecchia (2010), ”Note Venete” (2011), Debussy (2012), Britten, Hindemith and Poulenc (2013), ”In principio era il Lied” (2014), ”Le metamorfosi della Musica Russa” (2015) to “La musica nella Grande Guerra” (2016),”Suoni dall’Est” (2017), “Le radici della contemporaneita’ e la Grande Guerra” (2018), up to “Venezia respira” (2019). A cycle of 20 concerts in the venues of the Veneto Conservatories and Licei Musicali, involving more than 250 musicians from the Conservatories and Music High Schools of the Veneto region, representing the largest chamber music project at regional level, sponsored by the Veneto Consortium of Conservatories and funded from the Veneto Region. She is often invited as Jury Member of International Music Competition.
In 2010 she graduated with honors in a postgraduate programme in Music Therapy at Verona Conservatoire, president of ‘Music of the Body’, association for Dalcroze studies until 2011. She has given workshops on “Sound and Body”, including the Klangschale Therapie of Peter Hess® at many Conservatories, schools and associations in Italy and abroad.
