Tutoring and Coaching
Tutors work collaboratively with students to clarify and/or reinforce subject-specific content in various areas. Through 1:1 appointments, students engage in self-testing and active practice.
Writing Assistants help undergraduate and graduate students with many aspects of the writing process, from creating an outline to providing a reader’s perspective on the final draft.
An important part of being a USM student is engaging in scholarly research. USM Librarians are available to support undergraduate and graduate students’ research every step of the way.
AGILE stands for Academic Gains through Improved Learning Effectiveness. We want to help students avoid common learning challenges, and instead increase their memory, understanding, academic performance, and enjoyment of learning.
AGILE workshops provide hands-on experience for making learning efforts more productive and successful. Workshops are organized by topic and offered throughout the fall and spring semesters.
Group Study Rooms
The Learning Commons has numerous spaces on both the Portland and Gorham campuses that USM students can reserve for academic time-on-task in groups, for up to three hours at a time.
