First-Year Housing Process

First-year residential students at the University of Southern Maine are housed together in Living Learning Communities (LLCs) and share a 1-credit experiential learning course with others in their residential community.

Our Residence Halls

Explore our varied residence hall options on the Gorham campus for first-year, returning, transfer, graduate, and law students. Portland Commons will open on the Portland campus in Fall 2023.

Room & Board Rates

We offer room configurations ranging from singles to four- person apartments. The three residential meal plan options can be used in the dining hall as well as the snack bar and other locales across our campuses.

Portland Commons

Our future residence hall on the Portland campus will house USM second-, third- and fourth-year undergraduate, USM and UMS graduate, and Maine Law students.

Enhanced Occupancy

USM has made a commitment to provide on-campus housing to as many students as possible, which sometimes requires assigning students to enhanced occupancy rooms.
