There is open parking for visitors at LAC. No payment is required.

Portland & Gorham campus parking & payment

No parking in Staff/Faculty lots until 3pm. Monday to Friday. Visitors parking is subject to change. Parking is purchased via a mobile payment app or online or scanning a QR code at the parking area. No download required. You will not be able to book parking if restricted.

  • Parking Garage 1 Abromson at 88 Bedford St.
  • P6, next to the University of Maine School of Law, with entrances from Deering Ave. and Exeter St.
  • Parking Garage 2 Portland Commons: You may park here from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Paid visitor parking begins after 3pm in staff/faculty lots. 24hrs on Sat/Sun.

Gorham Campus:

Parking in lots are authorized but individual lot rules should be read and abided by before parking. You will not be able to purchase parking if visitors are restricted to park.

Blue signed lots – after 3pm Mon to Thurs and 24hrs on Sat & Sun.

24/7 – Red signed lots & G20, G13, G14, GS1, G12A

7am to 11pm – G7, G11, G2B, G12.

Taking a campus tour or visiting the Office of Admissions?

Our Office of Admissions will provide you with a validation code to enter into the digital parking system. Contact us prior to your visit to receive the code.

Digital Parking System & Mobile Payments

Starting July 20, 2023, you can use your mobile device to pay for parking.

You must begin your digital parking session within 10 minutes of parking. To begin your digital parking session, use your mobile device to scan the QR code signage posted in the parking garage or parking lot. This will connect you to our digital parking system. You can then select your parking session duration and make the payment using the available payment options. Once the payment is processed, the parking session will be activated.

You can also visit our digital parking system online or download the app on your mobile device.
Pre-arrival parking payment is available through the online system and through the app. This is not reserved parking.

Entering your license plate information

  • Personalized Plates: When you register your vehicle you must omit non-alphanumeric and special characters. For example, if your plate read “A B C – 123”. Enter “ ABC-123 “.
  • Vehicles without License Plates: Vehicles without a license plate must register their temporary license plate. Once you receive your vehicle’s permanent license plate you must update your account via the parking app or web access.

Parking cost

  • Portland campus: $4/hour. Bus/Trailer $6/hour.
  • Gorham campus: $1/hour. Bus/Trailer $2/hour.

Vendor fees are applied to payment transactions to provide you with a seamless and hassle-free parking experience. The fees support the maintenance and improvement of the app, ensuring reliable services and customer support. Parking is purchased via a mobile payment app/online. You will not be able to book parking if restricted.

What to do if don’t have access to a computer or a phone

You can pay for parking in advance. Contact parking services prior to arriving on campus. If you are contacting us outside of our business hours after hours, please contact support within the payment app. Additionally, HONK offers 8am to 8pm support for payment-related help. Event parking

Grass Parking: During university events, grass areas may be designated as parking spaces to accommodate the increased demand for parking. These areas will be clearly marked and communicated prior to the event. Vehicles are allowed to park only on the designated grass spaces and must not obstruct pathways or impede the flow of traffic.

Select Curbside Parking: In addition to grass parking, certain curbside areas may be designated for event parking. Spaces will be clearly marked with signage indicating their availability for event parking. Vehicles parked in these areas must comply with all parking regulations and not block driveways, fire hydrants, and restricted areas.

Scan the nearest QR code/pay online or via the app.

QR Sign and Zone: To initiate a paid parking session during a university event, attendees must locate the nearest QR sign and zone. These signs will be strategically placed throughout the event area and will contain a unique QR code for initiating the payment process. Or, you can choose to download the mobile app.

Payment Process: You can use your mobile device to scan the QR code displayed on the sign. This will direct you to the designated payment platform where you can select the appropriate parking session duration and make the payment using the available payment options. Once the payment is processed, the parking session will be activated.

USM departments use the Validation Request Form to contact in regards to validations. Contracted/Agreed Group rates are available with agreement of Parking Services and final approval of parking.

When classes are in session, on-campus visitor parking can be difficult to find during peak periods, which are generally Mondays through Thursdays, between 8:30 am and 2:00 pm.  To avoid traffic/parking delay and environmental impact, please consider hosting your event on Fridays, Weekends, or Summer.

All vehicles must validated/paid/permitted within 10 minutes of arriving on campus.

Depending on the needs of your event, parking traffic officers, parking attendants, mobile parking booth, or wayfinding signage , reserved parking may be required. Services of this nature are provided at an additional expense.

Shuttle service






Reserved Parking		  Starting at $100 per hour/per shuttle (driver included, Min. 2 hrs)
– Subject to availability and service locations
– Shuttle requests must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event
– Changes within 72 hours of the shuttle request may incur additional charges



– To reserve a specific parking space a cost $75 will be applied per space per 8 hours in addition to other charges
Parking staff   Starting at $45 / hour / staff / events with 150+ vehicles, parking attendant(s) are suggested
