Tintamarre: Documentary Showing and discussion
The Franco-American Collection at the University of Southern Maine invites you to join us at 51 Westminster St. in Lewiston on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 6:30 pm for a viewing of the documentary Tintamarre: On the Trail of Acadians in North America with discussion to follow. There is no fee for our programs, which are made possible by the Québec Delegation in Boston and by TV5MONDE.
This feature documentary pays homage to the special character of an enduring people: the Acadians. Two hundred years after Expulsion of the Acadians by the British (1755–1764), Acadian culture is still very much alive. But why do Acadians—whose ancestors founded the first colony in North America—have to keep making a racket to tell the world they’re still here?
